New faces included as Iraq announce squad to face Palestine

Basim Qasim has announced the squad that will face Palestine in Iraq’s upcoming friendly.

The match will be held on the 8th of May in the Basra Sports City Stadium and three players have been called up for the very first time. The squad consists of only local players, as the game does not fall on a FIFA match day. Palestine are currently in 83rd position in the FIFA World Rankings, 5 places above Iraq. A win for the hosts can cause a much needed morale boost following a string of disappointing friendly results.

The squad list contains 20 players with Safaa Hadi, Raad Fanar, and Mustafa Saadoun being called up for the very first time.
